Renee Hodsdon reported the Roxbury Fire Department applied for a Stephen King grant to purchase six new air packs and submitted volunteer fire grant requests for a truck radio, four portable radios and three spare pagers. Selectmen said additional grant applications will be pursued next year for further equipment replacement.
On behalf of the department, Renee Hodsdon asked whether the board would authorize purchase of a surplus vehicle for $5,000. The board did not authorize the purchase at this meeting and asked the department to appear with full vehicle details and include the request in next year’s budget submission so the selectmen could ensure the vehicle is worth purchasing.
The selectmen approved routine follow-up steps on grant reporting and reserved formal approval of any vehicle purchase until documentation and budget authority are provided.
