The City of DeWitt Planning Commission voted unanimously Oct. 23 to approve a site plan that will allow DeWitt Christian Church to expand its facilities at 2931 West Herbison Road, granting requested waivers to the city’s green belt and buffer-zone requirements.
City Administrator Daniel Coss reviewed the application and the inquiry items identified by engineering consultant Beckett & Raeder; according to Coss, the provisions required for approval had been met. Don Lowell, identified in the record as a representative of DeWitt Christian Church, was present to address the questions raised by the consultant.
The commission’s motion, moved by Commissioner Wheeler and seconded by Commissioner VanDyke, included the waivers for the green belt/buffer-zone requirements and made final approval contingent on the City Engineer signing off on three remaining administrative stormwater management items noted in the engineer’s report dated Oct. 16, 2025. The motion carried by unanimous vote of the commission.
The commission recorded no public comments on the application during the meeting. Commissioner Lee later complimented the site plan review prepared by Beckett & Raeder, saying the firm’s work was "nicely done" in the meeting record.
