RSU 23 board unanimously approves package of nondiscrimination, harassment and personnel policies

Board member Peter Flaherty read the first reading of two policies (JEA: Compulsory School Attendance and EFD: Meal Charging Policy). Later, Sally Beatty moved and Craig Evans seconded a motion to approve the following policies as written: BCB (Conflict of Interest); AC (Nondiscrimination/Equal Opportunity & Affirmative Action); ACAA-R (Student Discrimination/Harassment & Title IX Sexual Harassment Complaint Procedures); ACAA (Harassment and Sexual Harassment of Students); ACAB (Harassment & Sexual Harassment of School Employees); GCFB (Recruiting & Hiring of Administrative Staff) and GFCB-R (Recruiting & Hiring of Administrative Staff Procedures); and ACAB-R (Employee Discrimination/Harassment & Title IX Sexual Harassment Complaint Procedures). The motion carried with a unanimous vote.

The approved policies include nondiscrimination and Title IX complaint procedures that govern how the district will handle allegations of harassment and sexual harassment for students and employees, and administrative hiring practices.
