The DeWitt City Council approved its 2025 meeting schedule and received several brief staff and committee reports at the Nov. 25 meeting.
Councilmember VanDyke moved to approve the City Council meeting schedule dated Nov. 21, 2024 for calendar year 2025; Councilmember Whitman seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The schedule was accepted as presented.
On committee reports, Planning reported it is preparing a parking ordinance for future council review. Parks reported that McGuire Park is finished and available for public use. Mayor Pro‑Tem Hunsaker said the Personnel Committee has recommended to the Budget Committee that the city create a full‑time fire chief position; the minutes record the recommendation but do not include detail on timing, cost estimates or a formal budget request.
Clerk‑Treasurer Sarah Stoltzfus said the winter tax bill has been calculated and is expected to be mailed the first week of December; she also noted she will assist with a recount on Dec. 3 for District 7. Interim Police Chief Bryan Curtis provided a department update on recent activities. City Attorney Brian Goodenough noted Foster Swift will volunteer at the city's S'mores Pit during the Christmas Market.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous motion to adjourn at 7:43 p.m.
