Greenlee County supervisors on Monday approved a July 4, 2026 public fireworks display at the Four West tailings area after emergency management said appropriate suppression resources would be staged on site.
Matt Bowlinger, identified as an emergency management official, told the board the chosen launch zone has little surrounding vegetation and that staff had inspected the site. "They will have plenty of assets up in that area," Bowlinger said, adding he was comfortable with the location after a recent site visit.
Supervisor discussion was brief; the board made, seconded and approved the motion to permit the event with the condition that fire suppression resources be present during the display. No opposition was recorded.
