Students and families urged to sign up as district moves to ParentSquare; summer programs draw high enrollment

During the superintendent’s report the board heard several family-facing announcements: the district will adopt ParentSquare as its primary communication platform starting July 1 and urged families to activate accounts by June 18; the communications materials are available in Spanish and Haitian Creole.
Officials also reviewed summer offerings: a kindergarten Jump Start program (July 13–Aug 13), a Summer Explorers program with about 900 students already registered (July 6–Aug 13, mornings at CAT STEAM Academy, with transportation and meals), and a high-school summer academy (incoming 9th–11th graders) with 130 registered students in partnership with Welcor/Walcore at Spring Valley High School. The district said Rockland BOCES credit-recovery programs remain open with capacity for roughly 70 additional students (about 138 indicated interest).
Administrators told the board that transportation and building capacity limit expansion for some programs and said they will email waiting-list numbers on request. The district also reminded families UPK and kindergarten registration remain open for children who turn four or five by Dec. 1, 2026.
