Lebanon Committee approves $100,000 county grant application, renews liquor licenses and authorizes refunds

Mayor Beverly Koehler said the Township would seek a Hunterdon County Municipal Infrastructure Grant of $100,000 to remove hazardous trees on township-owned land and to acquire public-safety equipment. On motion of Jay Wojcik, seconded by Tom McKee, the Committee adopted Resolution No. 106-2024 authorizing submission of the grant application and delegating execution of any resulting agreement to the mayor and authorized officials.
The Committee also adopted Resolution No. 107-2024 approving renewal of plenary retail consumption and distribution liquor licenses for the 2024–2025 licensing term. The Mayor recited licensees including Asdal Holdings LLC (ABC Pocket), El Patron Mexican Restaurant LLC, New Hampton Inn Inc., ATK Inc. (Tony’s Bistro) and The Rock Corporation of Tewksbury (Bourbon Street Wine and Liquor). The transcript records that Committee member Brian Wunder abstained with respect to ATK Inc. (Tony’s Bistro) and the Committee recorded the motion as adopted.
Two escrow refunds were approved: Resolution No. 108-2024 authorizes refund of $295.00 to John W. Gasper for a Board of Adjustment escrow related to 4 Summit Drive (Block 17, Lot 26), and Resolution No. 109-2024 authorizes refund of $464.50 to the Young Men’s Christian Association for Planning Board escrow tied to a previously approved pavilion at 327 Camp Bernie Road. Motions to adopt each resolution were made and seconded and recorded as adopted.
The Committee approved the June 19 bill list totaling $1,568,198.31; Committee members described vouchers exceeding $1,000 before the vote. Jay Wojcik abstained from a payment that listed him as a payee; otherwise the vote on the bill list was recorded in the affirmative.
What happens next: The grant application will be submitted to Hunterdon County; if the county offers a lesser amount the township will accept and execute the grant agreement per the resolution language. Refunds will be processed by the Finance Office as authorized.
