RSU 23 welcomes School Resource Officer and hears DHS site-visit safety update

RSU 23 board members heard safety and security updates Sept. 21 from Assistant Superintendent Eric Hanson and welcomed new School Resource Officer Adam Jensen.
Hanson introduced a presentation of safety and security items and referenced a site visit from the Department of Homeland Security. Hanson also formally welcomed SRO Adam Jensen and read his biographical information to the board. Superintendent John Suttie said Jensen had already made a positive impression on staff and students.
Board members, including David Boudreau, thanked the chief of police for assisting with the SRO placement. Related facility and security work was noted in the building report: completed and upgraded doors, implementation of key-card access, first-floor window tinting, and improved LED lighting at the high school. Several smaller projects, including carpeting and kitchen- and classroom-door repairs, were also listed.
The minutes do not include detailed findings from the Department of Homeland Security visit or a specific implementation schedule for the security recommendations; board members discussed these updates as part of regular business.
