DeWitt Planning Commission reappoints officers, forwards 2024 annual report; staff previews W. Jefferson parking lot renderings

DeWitt Planning Commission members reappointed their current officers for 2025, unanimously approved the commission’s 2024 annual report to City Council and reviewed proposed renderings for a W. Jefferson parking lot at a meeting Thursday evening at City Hall.
Chairman Ware called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and Commissioner Clement led the Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioners Ware, Clement, Patterson, VanDyke and Gackstetter were present; Commissioner Lee and one seat remained excused or vacant. City Administrator Daniel Coss and Clerk-Treasurer Sarah Stoltzfus were listed as staff. No members of the public were present for public comment.
Commissioner Patterson moved to approve the Jan. 23 agenda; Commissioner VanDyke seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote. Commissioner Clement then moved to approve the minutes of the Nov. 13, 2024 meeting; Commissioner Patterson seconded and that motion also passed unanimously.
On officer appointments, Commissioner Gackstetter moved and Commissioner VanDyke seconded to keep the current officers for 2025. The commission closed nominations and reappointed Chairman Ware, Vice-Chair Clement and Secretary Patterson by unanimous vote.
The commission reviewed the Planning Commission’s 2024 annual activities report and voted to accept it and forward it to the DeWitt City Council. Commissioner Patterson moved the action and Chairman Gackstetter seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
During member comments, Administrator Daniel Coss presented renderings for a proposed parking lot on W. Jefferson, describing the project as an addition to downtown that would create space for social gatherings and serve as a prime spot for the Farmers Market. No formal action on the project was recorded at this meeting.
Commissioner Gackstetter moved to adjourn at 6:27 p.m.; Commissioner VanDyke seconded and the motion carried. Clerk-Treasurer Sarah Stoltzfus signed the meeting record.
