CSLB expands outreach, uploads exams and plans Spanish-language testing nation‑wide

Henry and Chief Carol reported licensing and testing updates: over 30,000 renewal applications were received in the last quarter, staff contacted contractors who deferred renewals after fires, and over 59,000 CSLB exams were administered between May 2025 and April 2026. Staff said digitizing exam booklets and graphics for trade exams will allow distribution through secure portals instead of overnight shipping, which is expected to cut postage and materials costs by roughly $70,000 annually. "We are going to reduce those postage costs, laminate, and paper from being able to digitize these booklets, plus the increased security of not having them go through the mail," staff said. (Carol)
Staff also reported that over 11,000 Spanish-language exams were taken between May 2025 and March 2026 and that additional Spanish item banks are being programmed; staff said PSI is developing the technical method to support nationwide Spanish exam access once complete. (Carol)
