The board set a practical initial per-application cap of $2,500 so multiple awards could be made in the first round; members noted the board could approve larger awards later if the review committee recommended them and the board agreed.
Board members said the grant program will use an application form and criteria designed to ensure awards comply with the settlement’s terms and are documented for reporting. Staff said the program would be posted online, a deadline for the first-round applications would be set, and the board would notify the individual (the applicant previously heard by the board) when the program and application materials were available.
The motion to establish the program and adopt the $2,500 cap passed unanimously.
