Huntsville council notes second ACP public hearing; new water tank now in use

Ty, the city’s water department representative, told councilors the system is already using the new tank and staff will work to empty and decommission the older tank. According to Ty, "it was right after last council... the old one's still just full," and crews will begin the decommissioning process.
City staff said residents in areas served by the new tank have reported improved pressure since the tank went online. The council's earlier public materials — distributed in a meeting packet and emailed to residents — stated the hearing would cover project scope, financing sources and potential impacts to customers.
The council did not record any formal changes to project financing or user fees at the meeting. Staff indicated follow-up work will continue, including a scheduled walkaround to finalize tank details.
Next steps: the council will accept any written comments submitted to city staff and continue technical work required to place the old tank out of service.
