Zoning board keeps several hearings open to September after missing agency comments

Several applicants before the Town of Newburgh Zoning Board of Appeals on July 25 had their public hearings continued to the board’s September meeting because county or state agency referrals were pending or additional materials were needed.
Dorothy Hall (61 Albany Post Road) requested a 24×28 side‑yard addition; because the lot lies within 500 feet of Route 9W the County (GML 239) must comment and the Board kept the hearing open until Sept. 26. Planning Board referral applicant Danielle Ciaffone (2 & 4 Whisper Lane) also had no County reply and the Board held the hearing open, as did Matthew Gallagher (409 Little Britain Road) and others where DOT or county responses were still outstanding.
Chairman Darrin Scalzo explained that applicants needing interagency reviews could not be acted upon that evening and that the August meeting was not being held; the Board set Sept. 26 as the continuation date for these matters.
