Committee recommends construction-trailer exception, TC1 amendment removing car washes and approves minutes

During its May 11 meeting, the Upper Moreland Township Community Development Committee approved several administrative recommendations and corrected its minutes.
Code Enforcement Director Paul E. Purtell recommended that Federal Realty be allowed one 60-foot construction trailer for the duration of the Willow Grove Shopping Center project. The committee agreed, directed Township Solicitor Alex Baumler to prepare a resolution and recommended that the Board of Commissioners adopt the resolution at its June 1 regular meeting.
Separately, the committee directed Solicitor Baumler to prepare an amendment removing car washes from the TC1 district. The committee recommended the Board authorize advertisement of that amendment at its June 1 meeting and hold a public hearing on July 6, 2026.
The committee also unanimously approved the April 20, 2026 meeting minutes as amended after Dr. Lynnette Saunders requested a correction; Mr. Purtell later confirmed the correct phrasing is “20 cubic yards” consistent with Chapter 175 – Grading.
Why it matters: These are administrative steps that authorize limited construction-site accommodations, update zoning text for the TC1 district and correct the official record. Each recommendation requires Board action to take effect.
