Kettering approves $400,830 multi-year street-lighting contract

Kettering City Council on April 14 authorized a seven-year full-service street-lighting agreement with Miami Valley Lighting LLC, approving a contract valued at $400,830 and retroactive to Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2032.
Engineering staff explained the new agreement replaces a contract that ended last year and that Kettering participated in joint negotiations with roughly two dozen nearby municipalities to secure the terms. Staff noted the budgeted amount was $383,000 and the contract includes a negotiated increase that requires a supplemental appropriation.
"This resolution will allow the city manager to enter into a contract with Miami Valley Lighting LLC for full service lighting on various streets and public grounds throughout the city," staff said during the council briefing. Councilmembers called attention to the regional negotiation effort and approved the contract by roll call.
Council approved related supplemental appropriations later in the meeting to cover the contract increase. The contract term, staff said, runs through 2032 and is intended to ensure continuous maintenance and replacement services under the full-service arrangement.
