County authorizes wastewater grant application, creates TIF funds and waives subdivision rules for utility sale

The board approved Resolution 2026-18-CM, authorizing a grant application to the Indiana Finance Authority's Water Infrastructure Assistance Program for construction funding on the Buck Creek Coburn Wastewater Project. Staff said the authority indicated funds are available and that the award would be restricted to construction costs; IDEM has been engaged in the project.
Commissioners also approved Resolution 2026-19-CM to establish two funds in the auditor's office related to the Southeast Industrial economic development area to streamline claims approval under an existing joint economic development agreement with the city of Lafayette.
Finally, the board approved Resolution 2026-20-CM to sell approximately 1.8 acres around Tippecanoe Villa to American Suburban Utilities and to waive application of the unified subdivision ordinance for this public-utility transaction. Eric Burns of American Suburban addressed the board in support. County staff said area planning agreed with waiving the normal subdivision process for the utility sale.
What happens next: staff were authorized to sign required grant documents for the wastewater project and to proceed with closing the sale under the waived subdivision process.
