Commissioners approve engineering amendment and easements for Buck Creek–Colburn wastewater project; accept $800,000 IFA grant

The Tippecanoe County Board of Commissioners on June 1 approved additional engineering work and property easements to advance the Buck Creek–Colburn wastewater project and accepted an $800,000 grant from the Indiana Finance Authority to support construction.
President Tracy A. Brown presented a second amendment to the county's engineering agreement with Jones Petrie Rafinski Corporation to provide additional force-main construction management services at a cost of $166,000. The board moved and approved the amendment.
The board also authorized perpetual sewer utility and construction easements for several parcels needed for the project. Easement payments recorded in the minutes included two $500 payments to Jay L. Mitchell and Karen S. Mitchell for specified parcels, $9,555 to Jo Etta L. Flora, and $788 to Alex Sandvold.
Separately, commissioners accepted an $800,000 grant from the Indiana Finance Authority earmarked to support construction of the Buck Creek Regional Sewer District. Commissioners indicated the IFA funds will be used alongside county project planning and the approved engineering amendment to move the project into construction management phases.
Next steps include executing the amendment, recording easements, and incorporating the IFA grant into project funding and reporting; staff follow-up was directed to the county engineering and commissioners' offices.
