Council read a proclamation declaring Dec. 9, 2025, to be Jackie Fiser Day, citing eight years on council and contributions to volunteerism, recreation and neighborhood initiatives. Fiser accepted the proclamation and said she will continue to serve the community as a military liaison, with KVAC and in sister-city work. "I'm not going away," she told the room.
Council also proclaimed Dec. 9, 2025, to be Peggy Laner Day, highlighting 15 years of service as mayor and previous terms in the Ohio Legislature. Laner reflected on senior services and volunteer programs, telling council and guests she is proud of local efforts and urging renewed volunteer engagement to help offset budgetary pressures.
Guests included Sandra Bington, the governors western Ohio regional liaison, who read remarks of appreciation from the governor and lieutenant governor, and state Representative Andrea White, who thanked both women for regional leadership on issues including hunger and veterans services.
Council members and staff offered tributes to both leaders and to retiring law director Mr. Hamer; speakers emphasized mentorship, civic accomplishments and personal stories from years of collaboration.
The council closed formal remarks and invited attendees to join refreshments and continued farewell remarks outside the chamber.
