Falls Township zoning board approves two fence variances including one bordering elementary school

The Falls Township Zoning Hearing Board unanimously granted two fence variances during its meeting.

Michael Young, speaking for himself and Sally Young, sought a dimensional variance under section 209-37C to allow an 8-foot fence in the rear yard where the property borders Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary School at 33 Lions Drive. Michael Young said the existing fence is in disrepair and the taller fence would be limited to the portion bordering the school. No public comment was recorded. Aaron moved to grant the variance as depicted in the submitted plans; the motion was seconded and the board voted yes unanimously.

At the next docket item, Megan McCauley asked for a dimensional variance from the same section (209-37C) to install a six-foot privacy fence in a secondary front yard at 12 Nottingham Drive. McCauley told the board that township staff had evaluated the site triangle and found no height issue; no public comment was recorded. A motion by Aaron, seconded by Bill, granted the variance in accordance with the plans and testimony.

Both rulings were made after the board confirmed notices and exhibits were on the record. The decisions were procedural grants of dimensional relief; no additional conditions beyond compliance with the submitted plans were stated on the record.
