Mayor Bryant highlights Dollar General opening, village-hall renovation and upcoming RFPs

Mayor Darren E. Bryant opened several community and development updates at the March 12 meeting.
Bryant said he visited the new Dollar General, described it as similar to a small grocery store with fresh produce and encouraged residents to support it. He reported the village hall renovation is progressing and is expected to be complete by the end of summer 2024. He added that Nelson Avenue and Monticello are slated for paving in early summer.
The mayor said RFPs for the community center, street lighting and the water tower will be posted by the end of the month on the village website, local newspaper and Facebook. He also reminded residents of community services: free smoke-detector installation through the Robbins Fire Department and the March 25 'Chat with the Chief' event at 6 p.m. at the police department. Mayor Bryant invited residents to sign up for text alerts and use Epay for bill payments.
