Storm water manager reports 35 projects under way, major subdivision work mobilized

The storm water program manager told the board the department has initiated 35 projects to date, the majority maintenance work, and described three capital projects now underway or starting.
The manager said mobilization on the Aberdine and Sherwood Forest subdivision project started the day of the meeting; substantial completion for storm-water work was expected by Aug. 15 with final completion by Sept. 15, after which the highway department will mill and resurface remaining roads. The Bridalwood subdivision ravine restoration project was reported complete as of April 30, and the Hidden House subdivision phase-two drainage and pavement project had bids due tomorrow.
The program manager emphasized routine maintenance activities such as log-jam clearing and tree removal along specified ditches and continued regulated drain inspections and assessments. When asked whether a storm-water representative would be on site full time, staff said field inspector Tom McNav will not be on site full time but will check the project every day during critical phases and that department or consultant representatives will be on site during key operations. Staff also confirmed that for in-house projects the department is responsible for initiating permits and will require contractors to provide required documents.
The report closed with a notice of continued project oversight and coordination with the highway department on joint reconstruction and paving work.
