Elections director reports candidate filing window; board to honor long'serving precinct official

At the June 16 meeting the elections director reported that candidate filing for two Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor vacancies opened June 8 and remains open through July 6 at 5:00 p.m. because of the holiday; the filing fee is $5 and office hours for filing are weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The chair announced the death of Dane Blair, who served 26 years as a precinct official at the Rockingham Central Precinct. The board asked staff to prepare a resolution honoring Blair and to present it to the family at the board's August meeting; the public information officer would be notified to record the presentation.
"She served as a precinct official here for 26 years at the Rockingham Central Precinct," the chair said. Dr. Jones requested staff ensure the resolution spells Blair's name correctly (B— L A I R).
