Attorneys Ben Letendre and Andrew Adams of West & Dunn addressed the board before the vote, outlining services the firm would provide to Marquette County and saying they would "keep the same flat fee rate for the fiscal year of 2025 that the county holds with the current Corporation Counsel contract." The board adopted Resolution No. 39-2025 to formalize the retention; the roll call recorded 15 ayes, zero noes and two absences.
The change in counsel follows the announced retirement of Corporation Counsel Natalie Bussan effective June 30, 2025. Bussan delivered her May report to the board at the meeting and was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by Chairperson Ken Borzick.
The board’s action directs the County Administrator to finalize the contract paperwork so the firm’s representation is effective July 1. The vote was taken in open session and recorded in the meeting minutes; the record lists two absent supervisors (Abby Swan and Jeff Frazer) at roll call.
