Covington council approves rezoning of parcel H19-011442 to Highway Service District

Village Administrator Kyle Hinkelman explained the third-reading ordinance and said the Planning Commission had recommended approval by a 4-0 vote and that there had been no changes since the second reading. Councilor Dawn Duff moved to approve the ordinance; Councilor Derrick Canan seconded, and the council recorded unanimous approval.
The rezoning changes the official zoning map for the parcel along US41 and replaces residential/neighborhood-business designations with Highway Service District zoning, which allows uses oriented to highway access and service. Hinkelman did not state any specific new proposed use for the property during the meeting.
The council adopted the ordinance on third reading; no council member opposed the measure. The file will be updated to reflect the zoning map amendment and the ordinance adoption.
