The Cedar Creek Board of Trustees on Dec. 17 directed staff to solicit competitive bids for a permanent bridge design after receiving a $35,600 proposal from JEO Consulting Group that exceeds the village's $30,000 procurement threshold.
Trustee Prescott reported emergency bridge repairs have been completed and approved by JEO Consulting Group. The board then reviewed JEO's preliminary design estimate for a permanent replacement or major repair. Because the bid is above $30,000, village ordinance requires the work be put out for competitive bidding; trustees agreed Prescott, Trustee Fotoplos and Trustee Bruckner will provide suggested engineering firms to receive the request for proposals.
The action is procedural: no award was made at the meeting and the board did not vote to accept JEO's proposal. Prescott said earlier emergency repairs had been finished and a shed on the riverbank related to the site is expected to be removed by Dec. 27, 2024. The matter will return to the board after the village solicits and evaluates competitive bids.
