Cedar Creek trustees approve audits, permits and routine items; garbage contract tabled

The Cedar Creek Board of Trustees handled several routine agenda items at its Sept. 17 regular meeting. Trustees approved an engagement letter with Lengemann & Associates for a year-end audit of the village finances for $7,000. Trustee Prescott moved to approve the engagement letter and Trustee Bruckner seconded; the motion passed by roll call (Peacock absent).
The board also approved two permit applications: a garage addition at 3003 Sunset (James Wallusky) and a garage variance at 2057 Sunset (Terri Scholting). Both motions were made by Trustee Bruckner and seconded by Trustee Fuxa and approved by roll call.
Other actions: the board adopted Resolution 2024-7 (Certification of Program Compliance) and accepted the treasurer's report listing fund balances and vendor claims. The board recorded a report that a young woman who damaged part of the pickleball court fence notified Trustee Bruckner and said she would pay for repairs. Trustees discussed reports of construction without permits at several addresses and asked the clerk to contact Cass County inspection to determine whether work should be halted pending permit review.
Steve Sharp raised an item about bendway weirs previously installed; Flood Plain Manager Paukert said any maintenance or repair must be approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and recommended having JEO inspect the structures. On the Tuff Shed on Lot 180, the owners asked the village for financial assistance to remove the structure; the village attorney replied that the village could not pay removal costs and the board suggested the Flood Plain Manager consider 'red tagging' the building to prompt owner action. The board tabled a decision on the village garbage contract because two trustees were absent and deferred the item to next month.
The meeting adjourned at 8:37 p.m. and the clerk certified the minutes.
