Engineer says Cedar Creek bridge is unsafe; board orders temporary lane closure recommendation but keeps road plan unchanged

Andrew Eisenbraun and Eli Green of JEO told the Cedar Creek Board of Trustees on Sept. 17 that an inspection of the bridge over the creek found safety concerns and recommended closing the north-side lane until temporary repairs are completed. Eisenbraun outlined possible approaches and timelines for temporary fixes, and the board heard that the condition does not require changes to the village's One- & Six-Year Road Plan.
The presentation took place during a public hearing attended by trustees Prescott, Bruckner and Fuxa. Eisenbraun described his inspection result as the basis for recommending a lane closure to reduce risk until repairs can be made. The board discussed funding uncertainty for repairs and noted that absent trustees and unknown repair costs influenced decisions on related expenditures.
Later in the regular session, after the engineers' report, Trustee Fuxa moved to adopt the One- & Six-Year Road Plan; Trustee Bruckner seconded and the motion passed by roll call vote with trustees present voting aye (Peacock and Richardson absent). The board did not change the plan's project list or timeline at that time.
Chair Prescott asked that decisions about related park tree removal and funding be postponed until the village has clearer cost estimates for bridge work and until more trustees are present. The board also instructed staff and its engineer to refine options for temporary repairs and to report back at a future meeting.
The board did not take a specific vote on executing temporary repairs at this meeting; it adopted the One- & Six-Year Road Plan and agreed to follow up on repair options and funding.
