Residents raise drainage and loose-dog complaints as trustees discuss park maintenance

During public comment and officer reports at the July 16 Cedar Creek Board meeting, residents and trustees raised several neighborhood-quality and park-safety issues that the board said it will follow up on.
Harold Johnson of 1068 Platteview Drive told the board that water from a neighbor’s garage is draining onto his property. Trustee Peacock said the village would look into what could be done; the minutes record no formal enforcement action at the meeting and no resolution of the complaint.
The clerk and trustees also discussed park maintenance. Maintenance Supervisor McEvoy said rain and weather are making it unlikely drainage work in the park will be completed this year. Trustee Richardson reported a $5,900 bid from Edmond’s Tree Service to remove or trim 17 trees; Richardson and maintenance staff will review which work can be done in-house and which will require the contractor.
Trustee Prescott moved to approve up to $500 to pour concrete for a memorial bench connected to Sasha Warren; that motion passed. Prescott also moved to approve up to $600 to purchase rock for the ball-field parking lot to address surfacing concerns; that purchase was approved by roll call.
The board recorded a complaint from a resident about two dogs running loose from 2066 Sunset and asked the village attorney to contact the dogs’ owner. Separately, trustees noted that a teen driver drove through the ballpark fence; a police report was filed and trustees said repairs will be handled through the parents’ insurance.
What’s next The village attorney was asked to contact property owners in at least two enforcement-related items (the Tuff Shed on Lot 180 and the loose-dog complaint). Trustees Richardson and maintenance staff will review the tree-bid to determine scope and cost for immediate work versus work that can wait.
