The Delhi Charter Township Board of Trustees on June 16 adopted a local resolution recognizing TWIGS, Inc., a Holt-based nonprofit that provides rides and household support to cancer patients, enabling the group to apply for a charitable gaming license through the Michigan Lottery Charitable Gaming Division.
Trustee DiAnne Warfield moved and Trustee Wendi King supported the adoption of Resolution No. 2026-007; the vote was unanimous among trustees present (6-0). The resolution notes the nonprofit's mission and authorizes local recognition so TWIGS may complete the state charitable gaming application.
Also at the meeting the board appointed township resident Brian Sapita to fill a vacancy on the Planning Commission through June 1, 2029. Sapita's application (submitted March 12, 2026) states residency of 5.5 years and prior community involvement; the appointment passed 6-0 on a Warfield/King motion.
Separately, the board approved the Fire Department's request to purchase a 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD through the MI-Deal purchasing program for $60,004; Trustee Fred Ford moved and Clerk Evan Hope supported the motion, which passed 6-0. Fire Chief Brian Ball had told the board the vehicle will replace a 2017 Tahoe and that upfit costs (lighting, siren, storage) are expected to total roughly $17,300.
The board concluded by adopting its 2027 Board Goals in a unanimous vote. The goals emphasize partnerships with Holt Public Schools, infrastructure and sidewalk planning, public safety staffing and succession planning, and continued attention to communication and employee retention.
Public comment earlier in the meeting included remarks from Nancy Romig about the Farmer's Market expansion and township goals, and from Neil Mac Vicar regarding Willoughby Road conditions.
