At the Aug. 4 meeting of the Marquette County Department of Human Services Board, Director Mandy Stanley and staff reported several staffing changes, service-demand trends and program updates.
Mandy Stanley said a CCS facilitator resigned and staff are covering the additional caseload; a new ADRC Resource Specialist recently started. She also reported participation in a UW Extension community forum, successful Department of Transportation and Department of Children and Families site visits, and that IT and staff are exploring AI-assisted phone software to triage incoming calls.
Jennifer (Jen) Vote of the Financial Unit said uploaded financial reports lacked updated revenues because revenue figures must be entered manually through processes at the Treasurer and Administration offices; she said the issue will be further discussed at the Aug. 15 Finance Workshop. Vote also noted a state increase to Children and Family rates and a 5% increase to the ADRC funding base, and that several mandated services received no additional funding.
Program statistics presented to the board included 308 households served by the county food bank in July (62% were seniors and children) with 15 new households; a food donation bin being built by local Amish volunteers; and a Pigfest fundraiser planned for Sept. 5–6 at Lake Arrowhead Campground. Annett Eckes reported the Economic Support/Child Support call center handled 13,587 calls in July and outlined FoodShare and child support collection data. Dawn Woodard of Clinical Services reported 20 crisis calls, two emergency detentions and five long-term placements in July; the CST/CCS coordinating committee reported 22 open cases with one on a waitlist.
Mandy Stanley reported for Aging and Disability Services (on behalf of Jan Krueger) that two individuals were in out-of-home placement and that ADRC website resource searches were the most common site hits. The ADRC Advisory Committee reviewed goals for the 2025–2027 plan in July and will next meet Nov. 6; the Transportation Coordinating Committee is next scheduled Sept. 18. The board set a Human Services finance workshop for Aug. 15 and scheduled its next regular meeting for Sept. 8 at 10:00 a.m.
