Marquette County DHS reports waitlists, program statistics and a state funding cut to TSSF
Summary
Human Services staff reported clinical crisis-call counts, case totals, FoodShare disbursements, upcoming audits, and that the Targeted Safety Services Funds (TSSF) program will face a 50% state funding cut for 2026; staff also announced outreach events and an upcoming ADRC specialist start date.
At its July 7 meeting the Marquette County Department of Human Services board received routine unit reports that outlined service demand, program statistics and near-term audits.
Kris Bergh, Veterans Services Officer, reported 24 veteran cases closed, 112 open cases remain, and two veterans had died since the last report; she listed outreach events and said the Veterans Outreach and Recovery Program has been reduced. Clinical Services reported 12 crisis calls in June, no emergency detentions or jail calls, and six individuals in long-term placement. Kristen Flannery presented on school-based services, citing the Prime for Life program used by Westfield School District and the availability of outpatient counseling in multiple schools.
Jen Vote said the Financial Unit is fully staffed and that auditing firm Baker Tilly will begin a single audit July 21; Jen also reported the Food Bank served 309 households during the reported period, including seven new households, and a walk-in cooler/freezer is planned for early fall. Annett Eckes presented Economic Support and Child Support figures: 1,846 open Economic Support cases at the end of May, $244,973 in FoodShare benefits issued, 12,891 call-center calls in June, 807 open child support cases and $133,935 recovered in May; audits are scheduled for July.
Jessie Cody told the board there are three children in out-of-home placement and two families enrolled in Targeted Safety Services Funds; she reported that the state will reduce TSSF funding by 50% for 2026. Jan Krueger reviewed Aging and Disability Services outreach, caregiver support meetings and ADRC metrics (80 phone calls and 593 website contacts in June). Transportation staff noted that federal and state transportation auditors will be onsite July 10 in the afternoon and the next Transportation Coordinating Committee meeting is Sept. 18.
