The Cedar Creek Board of Trustees handled routine administrative and operational items at its Oct. 15 regular meeting, approving minutes and the treasurer’s financial report, granting a garage permit and discussing multiple ongoing village projects.
The board approved prior meeting minutes (Bruckner moved; Prescott seconded) and accepted the treasurer’s report detailing account balances across Pinnacle checking and NE CLASS funds and claims for Aug. 21–Oct. 15, 2024, including payments to engineering firms, legal counsel and utility providers. Trustee Richardson moved to approve the treasurer’s report; the motion passed on a 3–0 roll call with Trustee Fuxa absent.
Permit business included approval of a new garage for Teri Scholting at 2057 Sunset Dr. (Lot 166); Trustee Bruckner moved to approve and Trustee Richardson seconded with a 4–0 recorded vote (Fuxa absent). Flood Plain Manager Chuck Paukert told trustees that two previously questioned properties (1010 Platteview Dr and 2058 Cedar) now have required permits completed; the clerk was asked to send a letter to owners at 1030 Platteview Dr. about potential permit needs.
Park maintenance items were reviewed: drainage cleanup is complete and tree removal bids have been solicited, with Trustee Richardson tasked to forward bids to the chair and clerk for board review. Regarding a Tuff Shed on Lot 180, the village and its attorney received a letter from Mr. Biggs requesting the VFD use the shed for a controlled burn; the attorney replied that the village board has no authority over VFD training burns and directed Mr. Biggs to the VFD. Assistant Chief Rob McEvoy said the shed’s location likely precludes a controlled burn and that he will coordinate with the homeowner and the fire chief.
The board also discussed a planned railroad crossing closure Oct. 22–23, which had raised resident concern; the clerk and others are coordinating with the railroad to minimize disruption. Finally, the municipal clerk said she will extend office hours to remain until 2:00 p.m. on days she is in the office to handle increased workload.
The meeting adjourned at 8:22 p.m.
