Clarks Village advances nuisance abatements and orders owner contact in camper habitation case

The Clarks Village Board of Trustees moved Feb. 11 to advance multiple nuisance-abatement actions and to address an apparent illegal habitation.
Trustee James Parsons moved and Trustee Chris Langley seconded a motion to continue to the next step the nuisance abatement at 302 W Amity; the motion carried on a 3-0 roll-call. The board then voted to begin a nuisance-abatement process at 508 N Myrtle regarding an unlicensed vehicle, again approving the motion 3-0.
Separately, the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office notified the Village that two people were living in a camper at 404 E Amity. Village zoning does not permit permanent residence in a camper and the minutes state the occupants are not the property owners. The board directed the clerk to contact the landowner and gave a two-week deadline for the occupants to move; if they do not, the board said it will begin nuisance-abatement proceedings and have the Sheriff serve notice, noting that photos show boxes and other items outside the camper.
