Board adopts capital projects budget; turf bid set for mid‑July and press box renovation eyed with $50,000 grant

The Oxford Area School District on June 16 adopted its 2026–27 capital projects budget and heard detailed timelines for several stadium and field upgrades.

Board members were told the turf field project is expected to go out to bid in mid‑July, with construction to begin in August and completion targeted by November. District staff said restroom options behind the high school are being priced (comparing prefab versus built‑on‑site) with cost estimates due in July, and renderings for a proposed fieldhouse will be available in August for community review.

District staff also reported a change in plans for the stadium press box: rather than demolish and replace the structure, the district will renovate the existing press box because of cost concerns. Staff said they are pursuing a $50,000 grant to fund the renovations; smaller, minimal upgrades would proceed if the grant application is unsuccessful.

"We anticipate going out to bid in mid July," staff told the board when describing the turf timeline. The Facilities and Safety Committee reiterated that, if timelines hold, the board could consider contract approval at its August meeting.

Why it matters: the projects affect competition and community use of district athletic facilities and are tied to the district’s capital plan. The turf timeline and press‑box renovation determine where and how fall athletics will be staged during construction.
