Ceresco trustees sign off on well, water-main and splash-pad work and approve final payments

The Village of Ceresco Board of Trustees on July 15 approved completion paperwork and final payments for several public-works projects, the board said.
Dale Bohac of JEO told trustees that the 2023 well has been placed into service and presented Final Change Order #5, a Certificate of Substantial Completion and Final Pay Application #5. Trustee Scott Peterson moved to approve Change Order #5; the board approved the change order, the certificate of completion and the final pay application in the amount of $99,903.80. "The well has been put into service," Bohac said during the meeting.
The board also accepted JEO’s report on the 2024 Water Main Improvements, which Bohac said is complete. Peterson moved to approve Change Order #3, the Certificate of Completion and Final Pay Application #1 for the water-main project; the board approved the final pay application in the amount of $269,495.00. Trustees and staff noted two service connections remain to be completed outside the contract (a 3rd Street connection for the Windstream building and a 1st & Elm connection for Frontier) and that Vrba will perform that work separately.
Trustees approved the splash pad Certificate of Completion and Final Pay Application for $41,100.00 after Custer moved the measure and Peterson seconded. Bohac and Trustee Custer also discussed site finishing items: a protective cage is installed and landscapng will be completed by Dustin Gushard; a piece of sidewalk will be a village expense.
The board approved contracting Johnson Services to install sewer slip lining on Elm Street between 2nd and 3rd for $17,750.00; Peterson moved and Custer seconded that contract, and the motion passed unanimously.
Public-works staff reported additional operational items tied to the projects: new water lines will include tracer wire, well levels will be tested, lead-and-copper compliance work needs to resume, and an abandoned cast-iron main was struck during subdivision work and requires follow-up. On a related claim for 224 Elm Street, public-works supervisor Brian Roland said Right Way Plumbing has been to the property several times over 22 years and the village’s contractor did not cause the problem; trustees asked Roland to seek a written statement from Right Way Plumbing and to check Vrba’s logs.

The board discussed remaining punch-list items and outside-contract valve work Vrba will install; Bohac said the valves are separate from the contracted work. Trustees set follow-up actions for lead-and-copper compliance and sewer repairs. The meeting adjourned at 8:43 p.m.
