The Barberton City Council adopted an eight-item consent agenda on April 13 that included charter amendments, property-sale ordinances, a flood-plain management amendment, two contract/payment authorizations and two appointments.
Key items approved as read by the clerk included: - Ordinance 48-2026: authorize sale of parcel 01-07733 to David Luciano for $1 (declared emergency). - Ordinance 49-2026: authorize sale of the Mobile Response Center RV (declared emergency). - Ordinance 51-2026: authorize sale of parcel 01-02080 (and 0115521) to Monogram Development LLC (Dave Thompson) for no more than $1 (declared emergency). - Ordinance 52-2026: amend the 2009 Flood Plain Management Program (declared emergency). - Ordinance 53-2026: authorize the mayor or designee to enter into contract with the Summit County direct indictment program for $19,000 (declared emergency). - Ordinance 54-2026: authorize payment to Port Petroleum for $22,502.73 for fuel delivery (declared emergency).
The council also appointed Terry Dwyer to the Barberton Tax Appeals Board (term through Dec. 31, 2028) and Sarah Sabaticky to the Parks and Recreation Commission (term through Dec. 31, 2026). A motion to suspend the charter posting rule (Section 5.10) was adopted before the consent adoption; the clerk recorded roll-call votes in favor of the consent-adoption motion.
The consent agenda items were adopted by roll call and will be processed administratively. Individual ordinances will be effective per the emergency and adoption provisions noted in each ordinance.
