Enon council approves reports, notes staff departures and upcoming community events

The Village of Enon council on Oct. 14 approved routine financial and mayor’s court reports, heard staff updates on infrastructure and community events, recognized a retiring employee and moved into executive session to discuss personnel matters.
Fiscal Officer Robert Storm presented the September financial report; Council member Whitacre moved and Council member Leist seconded approval of the financial reports and bank reconciliation, and the motion passed with recorded yes votes from Leist, Sweet, Beair, Whitacre and Davoli. The September mayor’s court report was also presented and approved on a Whitacre motion, seconded by Leist, with the same unanimous recorded tally.
Mayor Howard reported a signed work plan with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conduct a flood plain study. Staff updated the council on continued work on the Zoning Code Update and said the Green Vista Storm Sewer project scored high enough to receive Ohio Public Works Commission funding. Staff also reported proceeds of $3,114 from the recent sale of unneeded village equipment on GovDeals.
The council recognized Wayne Hensley on the occasion of his retirement. The meeting noted Administrator Siferd’s final day will be Oct. 17, 2025, and Administrative Assistant/Clerk of Court Thome’s last day will be Nov. 7, 2025; the minutes record thanks to both for their years of service.
Police Chief Jeff Wise reported continuing police vehicle maintenance concerns, attendance at New Chiefs training, and upcoming ALERT training for Officers Penewit and Schaefer. Staff announced community events including an Oct. 27 blood drive at the Government Center, a Drug Take Back event Oct. 25 and Trick-or-Treat hours from 6–8 p.m. on Oct. 25; organizers are also discussing a possible Christmas Parade concurrent with the Historical Society tree lighting.
Council moved into an executive session at 6:29 p.m. to discuss the employment of village personnel and returned to regular order at 6:57 p.m.; the meeting adjourned at 6:57 p.m.
