The Town Board on June 4 approved a temporary extension of existing nonresident parking permits for a minimum of three months, from July 1 through Sept. 30, at a fee of $225 for the three-month period. Staff explained the extension is intended to provide continuity while the town finalizes a new local law and permitting adjustments; officials emphasized the extension is limited to people who already held those permits and is not an opening for new nonresident applicants.
Board members said there is no displacement of residents because plenty of spaces remain available, and the temporary permits are a stopgap while staff adjusts the permitting system. The motion passed by voice vote. The transcript records the fee amount and the start/end dates, and notes the permits will be different under the forthcoming permit type.
