Town board conditionally approves Weaver Street sidewalk award and signs off on multiple contracts totaling about $1.95 million

At its June 4 meeting the Town Board authorized several contract awards to carry out infrastructure work and to provide a grant-funded training system for the police.
Staff recommended, and the board approved, a conditional award of bid TA-2504 for the Weaver Street sidewalk extension to Paladino Concrete Creations Corporation in an amount not to exceed $928,145; the award is contingent on concurrence from the New York State Department of Transportation. The project uses previously secured state grant funds and required property and environmental steps before contracts could proceed.
The board also approved awarding TA-2507 (reconstruction of municipal sidewalks and curbing in portions of Howell Avenue and Edgewood Avenue) to Peter J. Landy Inc. for an amount not to exceed $189,300, and TA-2510 (resurfacing of multiple roads) to Laura Lee Industries for an amount not to exceed $777,773. Separately, the police department accepted a fully funded grant to purchase a virtual-reality law-enforcement training system; the board awarded that contract to Operator XR, LLC in an amount not to exceed $58,300 and authorized the town administrator to execute the related documents.
Finance staff told the board that three capital budget transfers would cover minor shortfalls without adding to the overall budget: $11,000 moved to curb improvements and $50,000 to roads and sidewalks (partly offset by $13,000 additional state CHIPS funding and $37,000 from highway contingency). The board approved all motions by voice vote; the Weaver Street award remains contingent on DOT concurrence.
