The Maumelle City Council on June 16 approved two resolutions that authorize the city to apply for federal transportation funding.
Resolution 2025‑21 authorizes Maumelle to apply for Surface Transportation Block Grant and Carbon Reduction Program engineering funds for a greenway trail that will connect Mono Boulevard to White Oak Crossing in partnership with North Little Rock. Council was reminded that the city and North Little Rock previously received a related 100% grant for a green network segment and that this application would fund engineering steps (an 80/20 grant ratio was cited for future work).
Resolution 2025‑22 authorizes the city to apply for STBG construction funds for the Club Manor Roundabout at Odom South. Staff said previous engineering exists from a 2019 design but adjustments are likely: the project now must account for the greenway connection and updated pedestrian crossings. The city plans to apply for construction funds (the grant would cover up to 80% including utility relocation); engineering costs to move 100% plans forward will be estimated by the city’s engineer and may be the subject of future funding requests.
Vote and next steps: Both resolutions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote during the meeting. Staff will refine engineering estimates and, if necessary, return to council with funding requests to complete plan phases required by grant application rules.
