Officer Brian Deak was singled out for his work in the complaint bureau, where he led a multi-year review of hard-copy warrants and helped transition records into electronic systems. Chief Walsh said Deak "modernized our...re-arrest warrant system" and coordinated with the prosecutor’s office to determine case status and execute surrenders or administrative vacations for minor offenses.
The commission also read letters from residents thanking officers for specific assistance: Steuart Garlic commended Officer Ariel Martinez for help after a minor accident; Marilyn Bort praised Officer KTO for coordinating emergency response after a collision and ensuring the couple were safe; and Walter Aila wrote that Officer Mccari helped him after a crash, including transporting equipment and ensuring he got home safely. Commissioners publicly thanked the officers and the authors of the letters.
