Staff explained the work will prepare bid documents for a sanitary sewer separation and drainage-improvement project: several catch basins in the area will be disconnected from the sanitary sewer and tied into a new storm-drain system. Staff said Tighe & Bond has been retained through DPW’s on‑call engineering contract to prepare the bid package.
Commissioners did not raise substantive objections to the scope and voted to approve the $25,000 authorization. "This is the same thing that we've been hearing about," a commissioner said; staff confirmed the current engagement covers engineering tasks and bid preparation rather than construction contracting. The motion passed unanimously.
Staff said the Bettswood work will be included in bid solicitations later this year as part of broader drainage and sewer-separation efforts.
