Vernal City Attorney Mike Harrington, who addressed the commission, described the staffing help as a "tourniquet on the situation," saying several experienced prosecutors recently left the county office and that the arrangement is a temporary way to maintain prosecution continuity while the county recruits replacements.
Commissioners also ratified a seven-month agreement with Daggett County Attorney Kent Snyder to assist with serious criminal cases. Anderson described the agreement and said Snyder "will be reimbursed, I believe it's $4,000," and the transcript records that Snyder will remain employed by Daggett County and will not become a county employee. The transcript does not specify whether the $4,000 is a monthly fee or a lump-sum reimbursement; the board recorded its approval by unanimous "Aye" votes.
