Cedarville accepts $2,500 offer for surplus fire equipment; department reports delivered

Fire Chief Cody Cooper reported that the department had recently handled one grass fire and seven medical calls; he also told the council that SOS Fire Equipment (represented in the packet by Keith Gammel) offered $2,500 to buy surplus equipment. Alderman Breshears asked whether keeping the equipment would benefit the city's ISO rating; Alderman Johnson replied that retaining the unused equipment “would be of no use to keep it.” Alderman Breshears moved to accept the offer; Alderman Johnson seconded and the motion passed 3-0.
Council members also received routine departmental reports: Grounds Supervisor Kenny Brenton said crews have been cutting tree canopy on Lucian Wood Road, fixing culverts and patching roads, with repairs identified on Dorothy Drive; Police Chief Ken Howard summarized recent activity including 10 citizen calls, multiple citations and two accidents.
Next steps: the city will proceed with the equipment sale paperwork; no change to department staffing or service levels was recorded at the meeting.
