Bolton Heritage Farm Commission schedules planning-grant kickoff, clarifies farm revenue policy

The Bolton Heritage Farm Commission on Feb. 1 said a survey-and-planning contract tied to a planning grant is expected to be executed next week and that a virtual kickoff meeting is likely on Feb. 11 or Feb. 12.
Sara Nelson reported that consultant Meg Harper finally provided a schedule that can be added to the contract, allowing execution to proceed. Arlene Fiano, the commission’s chairman, said she will confirm the kickoff date and time with staff member Josh.
The commission also reviewed a cost analysis and a letter the members prepared to accompany a graphic spreadsheet of their business plan. The letter states the commission’s position that any financial returns from future farm uses would be applied to reduce operating costs but are not intended to fully reimburse the town for municipal maintenance. "As the farm is municipally owned it must be maintained with town funds like any other facility," the commission recorded.
