Cortland adopts trash-service ordinance, hires Miller & Associates and approves bills

The Village of Cortland board voted Nov. 13 to adopt Ordinance #2024-08, which amends minimum rates for trash services, and implemented it immediately after suspending the ordinance’s three readings by unanimous vote.
During routine business the board approved payment of presented bills, which included vendor amounts such as BOK Financial ($16,305.00), Waste Connections ($5,309.10), NPPD ($2,375.62) and total salaries listed at $7,300.75. The motion to pay the bills carried unanimously.
The board approved Miller & Associates to serve as village engineers and the street superintendent firm after reviewing bids from Miller & Associates and JEO Consulting. The clerk was instructed to notify both firms.
The board also approved a 25% highway allocation match of $1,869.00.
A proposed increase in the village attorney’s hourly minimum to $175 with a six-hour minimum for renewal in December was approved, and the clerk was asked to proceed with the contract renewal.
All listed motions were carried on unanimous roll-call votes.
