Manitowoc swears in new battalion chief, assistant chief and fire chief

Battalion Chief Thomas Christensen, Assistant Fire Chief Jeremy Wagner and Fire Chief Benjamin Krennic each repeated the oath of office administered by the city clerk and were congratulated by council members and family members who joined them at the front of the chamber. Council President Eric Squitz led part of the ceremony and the council offered brief remarks of congratulations.
Clerk Adam read the oath and oversaw the badge pinning; family members and colleagues joined the officials at the dais. The mayor’s remarks noted the department will take on duties under the new leadership and thanked outgoing leaders for their service.
The swearing-in concluded the council’s presentations portion of the meeting. No public debate or formal council action was required for the oath itself, which is a ministerial step required of appointed or promoted public safety leaders.
