Eaton City Council approves equipment purchases, paving contract and renews police camera subscription in 4-1 vote

Eaton City Council on May 18, 2026, approved a package of municipal resolutions that included yard-waste area cleanup, vehicle and equipment purchases, the award of the 2026 municipal paving contract and the sale of excess equipment. Council also approved a 12-month subscription renewal with Flock Safety for the Eaton Police Division; Mayor Joe Renner voted against that renewal.
The vote on several routine items came without extended debate. Council adopted Resolution 26-17 authorizing clean-up of the city yard-waste area; Resolution 26-18 to permit purchase of a one-ton chassis for the Public Maintenance Division; and Resolution 26-19 to buy a snow-and-ice package for a 2026 Ford F600. Council unanimously approved the sale of excess equipment under Resolutions 26-20 and 26-21.
Council voted unanimously to award the 2026 municipal paving contract to Wagner Paving, Inc. under Resolution 26-22. Under Resolution 26-23, the council authorized the City Manager to execute a 12-month subscription renewal with Flock Safety for the Eaton Police Division; the motion passed 4-1 with Mayor Joe Renner casting the lone no vote. The minutes do not record discussion of the rationale for Renner’s dissent.
Council also appointed Jessica Goeke to the Eaton Planning, Building and Zoning Appeals Board by unanimous vote. The City Manager’s report noted several ongoing infrastructure and park projects, including near completion of the Wastewater Treatment Project and upcoming construction at Water Works Park.
