Seaford board elects Lisa Herbert president, swears in officers and student representatives

The Seaford Union Free School District board elected Lisa Herbert as board president and Trisha Matulitz as vice president during its reorganization meeting and swore in several district officers and student representatives.

Board members moved and approved the nominations by voice vote; Lisa Herbert then took the oath, saying, “I do solemnly affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New York and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of Board of Education President for the Seaford Union Free School District.” Trisha Matulitz took the oath as vice president after a separate motion and voice approval.

The board also approved Heather Omhafer as vice district clerk and appointed Steven Arnov as district treasurer; both took the oath to "faithfully discharge" their duties. The board next read and approved a resolution appointing Matthew Kind as an ex officio student member for the 2025–26 school year and Michael Kofod as the alternate ex officio student member; the student members do not have voting rights and will not attend executive sessions. Matthew Kind delivered a brief student report highlighting athletics, a national championship for the jury team and the new high-school "Nordic Nook" mini café.

Dr. Adele Pakora signed the oath of office as superintendent and affirmed she would "faithfully discharge the duties as superintendent of schools." The board approved multiple consent-agenda items and administrative reports as part of routine reorganization business.
