Town manager outlines Newcastle downtown outreach, budget workshops and SCBA grant RFP

Town Manager Kevin briefed the Select Board on a suite of public engagement and budget activities during the Feb. 9 meeting. He said the town has relaunched a Facebook page to promote outreach and listed dates for three linked downtown-village public sessions (in-person Feb. 17 at 9 a.m.; virtual Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.) and two follow-up topic series on housing (in-person March 10 at Lincoln Academy; online March 12) and neighborhood growth (in-person March 26 at the Second Congregational Church; online March 27).
Kevin told the board that the town posted a request for proposals for SCBA equipment after being awarded a grant of nearly $140,000 in the fall; the RFP deadline noted in the meeting is Feb. 27. He also noted a budget workshop scheduled for the coming Wednesday that will focus on public services, provider agency funding requests, public safety, and debt service. Board members encouraged residents to participate in multiple sessions where possible.
Manager Kevin also described inspection findings on the Lynch Road detour site where excavation has led to water seepage at high tide and previewed capital-roads site visits (Timber Lane and others) ahead of budget prioritization decisions. He thanked staff involved in preparing the RFP and outreach materials and asked residents to consult the town website and Facebook page for details and RSVPs.
